I did some team national championship analysis a year or two ago...


I looked at the past six champions which was Penn State in '14 and '16-19, and Ohio State in '15. On average they won their championships with the following:

7 All-Americans
5 Finalists
3 Champs

Of course Penn State has been absolutely dominating recently. If they were to come back to earth the averages above would likely come down. Maybe 6 AAs, 4 finalists and 2 champs could win a team championship.

I didn't do podium analysis - obviously that wouldn't take as much as a championship would. Maybe I'll do that analysis next.
